Wayside provides a range of short and long-term treatment programs for adolescents who require a structured day program or a 24-hour a day group home setting. Youth are referred on both an emergency and planned basis due to significant mental health, substance use, and behavioral difficulties. Many of these children have experienced multiple placements with various family members, foster homes and group placements, and come to Wayside with histories of abuse, neglect, and trauma. Wayside Harbinger HouseShort-term, family-based acute care for adolescents who require an intensive diagnostic evaluation, or who might otherwise need psychiatric hospitalization, as well as those needing residential placement while addressing behavioral, school and/or family issues, and emergency shelter for homeless and runaway teens. Wayside Twelve PrescottA co-educational residence and supported housing program for young adults ages 18 to 24 with psychiatric, emotional and behavioral issues who have the desire and capacity to move back into the community. Residents live in a flexible environment and are challenged with increases in responsibility and levels of independence. Wayside Sudbury StreetA residential program supporting male adolescents in reaching a better understanding of their problems and family situations, increasing control over their behavioral impulses, and improving their academic functioning. ShortStop Transitional Housing:Providing transitional housing and supportive services to homeless young adults from Somerville and the Greater Boston area. Wayside AcademyA therapeutic special educational environment for adolescents with special learning needs. Offers a high staff to student ratio, small, structured classrooms, a 12 month/220 day school calendar, individualized education planning, a comprehensive behavior management system, clinical support services and MCAS preparation.
