The Wayside PrideSide Team
As part of Wayside’s Strategic Goals 2015-2019, leadership and senior management identified a need to expand key services to become a significant resource for LGBTQ+ youth and their families.
Action Step 4.3: Wayside will develop our expertise and clinical staff to be a significant resource for LGBTQ youth and families.
PrideSide is comprised of a team of staff who can serve as a clinical resource for mental, emotional and behavioral health issues surrounding LGBTQ+ youth and families. Through a grant from the MetroWest Health Foundation, Wayside was able to partner with OUT MetroWest, a vibrant, local, grassroots organization established to provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth support group gatherings. Wayside PrideSide staff attend OUT MetroWest programming to serve as a clinical resource to the youth who attend their support groups, as well as a clinical training resource for their staff and team.
As a result of our commitment to become a clinical LGBTQ+ youth expert, the team is engaged in a variety of training activities to build capacity to be the best resource possible. This year, we intend to grow and offer the ability to teach and support Safe Zones for LGBTQ+ folks.
Would you like to be part of the Community PrideSide Leaders Program, or do you have suggestions or questions about Safe Zones in your school or community? Do you need resources or support? Feel free to reach out to AMY HOGARTH for questions or more information.
Let us support all LGBTQ+ folks to be true to who they are, where they are!
